With its more than four kilometres of sandy beach, Amager Strandpark is a popular spot. Throughout the year, the area is used for various cultural and social events, but it's especially popular in the summer, offering ideal conditions for water sports activities such as kayaking and windsurfing.
The 53,000m2 area is developed with inspiration from the industrial history of Amager Strandpark, where old industrial buildings mix with new construction. The district has been developed with a focus on social and environmental sustainability and integrated urbanism along the harbour promenade with cafés, restaurants and various retail units. The mix of large and small apartments and terraced houses helps to ensure a diverse group of residents.
ALFA Development’s approach to collaborating with partners on the project has been to focus on involving citizens and integrating environmental and social sustainability – and to create an urban area that merged with the seafront.
